Absolutely killer first set. Now THIS is what I'm talking about - I think 6/14 was an A on paper, but maybe was just lacking that little bit of X Factor Rocket Sauce to push it over the edge, ya know?

6/15 definitely feels like it has that. Great flow to this set as well. Every single cut is on my highlights list.

Water In the Sky - slow version!
RUNAWAY FRIGGIN JIM - This was, well...a damn runaway!!!
Army Of One - great ensemble performance
Roses are Free - always nice to hear, but segue into....
TIMBER - WOAH THIS TIMBERS GONNA ROLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They are abolsutely killing it tonight.

6/14 was like "Oh, that was really good!"
6/15 is like "HOLY CRAP YOU HEAR THAT?!?!"



And then we get Mound interrupted by inclement weather, lol

This is definitely in the top 5 or so shows of the summer so far.

This show has that X Factor, that "little bit something extra" goin' on.

So, set 2 began with a resumed Mound that was excellent performed and segued stupendously into Tweezer.

Tweezer was....well let's just say WE'RE GONNA GET WET WET WET WET WET!

It was awesome and was knockin on the door of Type II when Trey unceremoniously ripped into Julius. Argh.

But Julius destroyed, so its almost forgiven

Slave to the Traffic Light - maybe the first (only?) real letdown of the show for me. Admittedly I'm not usually a fan of the song and find it to be a set 2 killer. Yes, I said it, come at me broski. This was was pretty boring and didn't really go anywhere. Oh well.

They bring the heat back with WORLD DESTROYING David Bowie that just hisses and snarls and dominates. HECK YES.

Suzy Greenberg arrives next and its A FREAKIN PARTY, YO! HOLY HELL THIS SUZY A DANG BLASTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PAGES HOUSE FOR THE WIN!!!!!!!!

Jibboo follows nicely. The song portion isn't that great but the jamming is top notch. A total beast of a Jibboo.

6/14/11 Alpharetta this afternoon

Always sick to get a Dinner and a Movie to open the show!

From there, set 1 is just a stone cold rager, straightforward first set. Only Bathtub Gin explores Jam World a little bit (quite awesome Type 1.5, I might add!) but on the whole this a set that is keeping things to the book.

Loads of energy and fun in the vibes though - this is NOT a tired show. The kind of show that lacks replayability but would still have been a blast to attend, ya know?

Let's see what set 2 has in store for us...

Awesome show. Awesome setlist.

Exceptional version of Fluffhead, DaaM opener, the set 2 Carini>Sand>Disease>Maze>Meatstick was AWESOME.

Quinn closer.

This show was great but I just can't bring myself to rate it that high. It was terrific pretty much, BUT it also felt very safe. Again, like a couple recent 2011 gigs, it just felt more like one of the best shows of 2009 as opposed to the supposed forward evolution we should be seeing in 2011, make sense?

Awesome show but not particularly memorable. If you must though, that 5-song second seat segue fest was the BIZNESS!!!



Excellent-but-not-essential. Or something like that.

Starting 8/5/18 right now, aka the You Sexy Thing gig

Is that Mike singing YST? Sounds too high for him and his voice keeps cracking lol

Very, very interesting looking first set! Tweeprise and What's the Use, Petrichor, Vultures... 

Ok, so set one is off to a really, really FUN if not great beginning.

You Sexy Thing gets the party started. Then a surprise Tweeprise keeps it going before some atonality with the beautiful yet chaotic What's The Use

Very odd set placement but it makes for a nice change of pace!

That being said, none of the above are actually all that GOOD, so despite their novelty and how great this probavbly woulda been to see in person, the real good stuff doesn't begin until Petrichor

I'm the world's biggest lover of Time Turns Elastic (I'd go mental if they busted it out!) so you gotta bear with me here if I go crazy on it

Point is, fun start without anything all that amazing happenning despite the setlist being interesting.

Petrichor is where things kick in for me  

Ok, so I think Petrichor is really boring, but this one was performed pretty flawlessly so major points for that.

Then it segued into a monster Most Events Aren't Planned - Page has really been killing it on this tour and its awesome to hear this rock so good! Oh man, they need to play this more - this is so AWESOME!!!!!! 

Reba was monstrous

The composed section was played as good as you can expect from 2018 (meaning ok without major flubs ) But the solo!

HOLY FRICKIN CRAP

Trey let it rip and let the magic flow like it was 1994 or something. Holy S#!+

Taste>Golden Age -  Great start to the second set. Golden Age was a blast - it stayed pretty much in the Type 1 realm for the jamming but the last minute or 2 saw them going back into a Reba jam with the whistling and all! Awesome to hear! Felt like a Phish 1.0 moment or something

Also, set 1 is BONKERS from Petrichor through the end. If you listen to this show just start it with Petrichor or Most Events.  

Great show but a clear step down from the previous 2
Nothing I would really call type 2 jamming tonight but a load of red hot type 1 or (or 1.5...)

Lots of flubs as well, but then again the show had a very silly and FUN vibe - this was not the kind of show to expect technical greatness from

Excellent finish to an amazing 3 night run.

 It's sure got some major competition - the previous night was probably the show of the tour (though several others come close) and one of the best shows of 3.0, surely

A weird-but-nice Bouncing Around the Room to open!

I like the song - great little piece of pop - but getting it lodged into the set later on sometimes annoys me. It's like the precursor to Silent In The Morning. A repeating motif that just goes on and on without much payoff in the end. But that's me being dumb and overthinking things - shut up Brad, it was only the opener!

After that they rip into a perfectly placed Chalkdust that gets the head bobbin' from the start and the toes a tappin. 11 minutes in length, I have some slight expectations for this to rock good

Oh man, can't wait to catch a Chalkdust one day - I'm gonna go nuts

Major disappointment

Looks great on paper - 14 minutes! All right! But we really mostly just get some - very lovely I might add - extended Type 1.5 jamming for its duration. But that's ok, not everything needs to hit outer space! This is fine stuff with awesome piano shredding from Leo. Trey is doing his "hold the note as long as possible" sustained/bent note jamming thing. Love it.

Seek this out. 

Maze - So, this is what it sounds like when Page the Rage loses his damn marbles!

He absolutely abuses his organ for several MINUTES like Trey would abuse his Languedoc back in the day. Holy crap I gotta see the video of this cuz everyone is laying back and just letting Leo rip it to shreds forever. I can picture Trey turned to Page, laughing his ass off watching him

If you want Hot Page, get this. Pronto.  

Onwards to set 2:

An absolutely world destroyingly awesome Crosseyed and Painless kicks things off with 12 minutes of the best jamming of the year. Oh my sweet gravy goodness this is INSANELY awesome!

And then its into a 24 minute Soul Planet

Dude, if last night was the show of the tour (so far!) this might be the best standalone SET of the tour.

Set 1 was a very mixed bag with only 3 or 4 songs I added to my "list of highlights", but this 2nd set is destroying me. 

Wow

So, 8/3 was the better show, but this 2nd set was incredible. It flowed so perfectly I could listen to it like a constructed album.

Wonderful gig.

Ghost - Ok, gonna say right out that this was the most overhyped and overrated jam of all time.
That being said, it was still absolutely terrific and either the best or 2nd best of the summer 2018 shows so far, imo.

Dang, son.... 

Only halfway through and this might be the 3rd best show of the tour so far. Gorge 1 and 2 and Inglewood 1 are the other 3 I consider the best "full show experiences" so far

But first that Ghost and now this Tweezer - why does noone mention the Tweezer?! I actually think it is better, imo.

Sick.  

Yup, this is probably the best show of the tour so far. Can't speak of the shows to come, but if I had to suggest someone ONE show to listen to from the gigs so far, it'd be this one - easily.

Up to Carini and I don't have much more face they can melt off me! 

After a world-destroying 20 minute Carini, Simple welcomes us like a phoenix rising from the dark, twisted ashes of the massive jam.

Simple is beautiful and feels a lot more like a coda section to the Carini than it does its own jam.

Splendid!  

Winterqueen - DANG!!!

I don't normally think much of this little ditty, but they go full on jam-beast-mode and rip this one a new backside.

Holy crap. 

A great Harry Hood and More to leave us wanting, well...more :P

A+ show!! Absolutely must-hear!!!!
