2018-08-07 Camden, NJ

 Onward with 2018 and 8/7 Camden #1

Nice setlist for my taste but on paper it looks like this could be one of the weakest of this very strong summer. When the shows have been as great as they have been though, that's not totally bad

EXCELLENT Crowd Control to start this show off! As mentioned, Crowd Control blew the gates off the hinges and kicked the proverbial door down with a smash. Fantastic and rocking to hell! Excessive energy all around! :D

No Men continues this - it's not too lengthy or out there but its the perfect 1-2 punch for this show. I'm sitting here at the dining room table banging my head and my grandmother is looking at me uttering nasties under breath :D :p

Seriously tho - Trey destroys on this one!!!

Blaze On - Still dislike this song with a passion (I'm sorry but its so damn corny!) but the jam is a pretty sweet little 6 minutes of Leslie play and late night keys. Just skip to the jam on this one

Infinite - I really like this song. The debut version had a great little jam but the song part felt stilted (as expected for a first performance). This version is a whole lot better. The song portion was definitely superior - a lot looser feeling. And then straight into type 2 Page Land for the jam....

Good stuff

So this first set was red hot for the first half, but it feels like they ran out of steam after the wonderful Roggae.

Rift was butchered, 46 Days had a nice jam but its just 46 Days, and Sparkle was the most tired/slow version I've yet to hear. And the set limps to a poor conclusion with the most lackluster Bowie I've ever heard

Not bad but super tired and with no energy. It sounds like they are begging to be put out of their misery and get to the set break!

On to Set 2:

This Light is wonderful! The DWD that opened the set was a let down. For its 25 minute run time, only the final 8-10 minutes was really that interesting imo.

IAWITW was pretty great though - wish they jammed it out like it was begging for. They were really getting into some good grooves by the end!

This Light is where its at though!!!! Just wonderful!!!!

Don't forget the terrific Mike's>Hydrogen>Groove that segued out of it - it was killer!!!

In conclusion, lots of ups and downs tonight

I would call this a step above the Lake Tahoe shows that started the tour, but its still pretty firmly at the bottom of the heap for me

It wasn't a poor gig by any means but it was pretty uneven throughout and the prior major peaks of the tour far outweigh almost everything this show delivered (aside from the Light>Mike's Groove - keep that!!!)

That being said, it was still fine and I still rocked my little heart out to it :)

A wonderful Show Of Life to close - this is one of my absolute favorite ballads and I'm surprised there isn't more love for it. Its a great song!!!
Trey goes all 70's Rock God on this like its Wingsuit or something - trills everywhere

Good stuff! :) A solid B+ show for me
