Moving on now to 2/26/97 Stuttgart
Finally another good AUD after several only so so ones.
----Stellar Camel Walk with extra mustard and a slamming Llama open the
first set. Up next, Stuttgart gets the MyFe that was aborted in Hamburg.
And its a great one. Killer! Oddly, Harry Hood comes next in slot #4.
Terrific version with a very lengthy and drawn out bliss section prior
to the "you can feel good". I mean, I guess it's the same as they always
play it, but it feels extra lengthy tonight. Seriously, this is a
strong Hood. Good stuff.
After a standard My Soul, we get Tube. You know it's gonna be a good
show when you get both Camel Walk, Harry Hood AND Tube all in the first
few songs! Page takes first solos, first shredding it up on the organ,
then moving over to the piano, giving a bit of class to the proceedings.
All the while Trey is porno-vamping it up to his heart's content. From
here, they quickly wrap things up before launching, clumsily, into
friggin' Carini. Hell yes. Let's go! Trey proceeds to go Banana Sandwich on it before they reach the cool "triangle percussion" outro section. Gosh, that was short, but man what a blast while it was here!
This highly inspired set continues onwards with Rock A William, winds
it's way through the uber-rarity of Dog Log, then finally comes to a
conclusion with While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Killer version with sick
playing from all.
Where the hell did they pull this set from?! It's like they
decided to play a set of rarities or something! That was a great listen!
Set 2
An absolutely lethal 1-2 punch of Buried Alive>Poor Heart opens the
second set. Oh hell yes! Camel Walk, Dog Log, WMGGW, Tube...and now
Buried Alive?!?!? After Poor Heart melts our faces, they go
into....another new/unreleased/rare song!!!! Ha Ha Ha is fun, if a bit
clumsy to start. Good stuff! Ha Ha Ha is awesome and rages hard before
they lead into a massive, 27 minute, YEM>Kung!!!! Dude! This
YEM is pretty great. Love how it gets down quiet for a long time - very
dynamic, for sure. Eventually it builds back up and rages excessively
as expected. It's a YEM, there's not much to say. It's friggin' fantastic! Lengthy vocal jam on this one too - nearly 4 minutes - before they transition hilariously into Kung. Great stuff. STAND UP ON YOUR HEELS AND KUNG FROM THE HILLS!
Kung eventually fizzles out and we go into a very nice Theme From the
Bottom. This one is all kinds of killer - nearly 10 minutes in length,
everyone just goes for it hard. Great stuff. To top it all off, up next
we get a fifteen minute Scent of a Mule! Longest ever?! And boy is it a doozy! Where to begin?! It friggin' dissolves into a full-on vocal jazz jam!!! Total unexpected strangeness!! Oh
my goodness, this is hysterical. From here they go into damn Take The A
Train teases and toy back and forth with whether or not to play jazz or
return to Mule. Dude. After a lengthy piano solo, they move right into
Magilla. What the F is going on. Where is Mule?! Nevermind! Here it comes once more! And from here they absolutely shred it to it's finale. THIS MULE!
Following that zaniness, an absolutely incredible, top-tier Slave to the
Traffic Light is the perfect capper on the set. This one stays VERY chill
for the majority of it's duration, only really picking up in the final 2
or 3 minutes! It's the ultimate slow-burn finale! You guys know I'm not
much of a Slave guy, but this one is just truly fantastic. Really.
Highway to Hell to close - final version until 2009
Wow. What a zany show!!!!! It was an absolute blast and absolutely
the best show of the tour so far, tied with Cortemaggiore and
Amsterdam, imo. Absolutely incredible and more than release-worthy. Wow!
