Been an exceptionally busy and physically taxing week around here. Oi vey, so much going on this week....
Back to 2011 with 6/17/11 Charlotte
This first set looks straight out of 1995, don't it?
The opening Mike's Groove was unexpected, but great.
Hydrogen was particularly flawless and beautiful - it actually stood out pretty good for a change!!!!
Bouncing Around the Room - my favorite song that I'm tired of hearing
(see also Silent In the Morning) was again performed with extra
flawlessness.
And from there we take a trip to LEO'S HOUSE!!!!
NICU is loaded with spam and pizazz. Lots of fun all around!
So far, the renditions have been exceptionally TIGHT like they practiced or something
Also, ForbinBird makes a completely random appearance so....
So far so great

Finishing up set 1
That was a terrifically well-played first set. Other than ForbinBird,
there was nothing out of the ordinary and really nothing to get too
excited about.
BUT, that's where the magic is - the set has terrific flow, spectacular
segues and the FUN level is at peak. Everything was played
album-perfect.
It sounds like I'm calling the set sterile and boring, but I just mean it's super straightforward.
Wolfman's Brother is the only song that features real extended jamming. The rest of the set might as well be studio recordings
A darn fine time was had by all
------------------------------------------------
Had an unexpectedly incredible birthday today. Lots of family caring when I didn't expect it and unexpected surprises, etc etc.
Been an extremely physically taxing week so it was the best dosage of Chilly Water ever today
On that note, I being set of 6/17/11
Number Line is an unexpected opener. I love the song and always love to
hear it but I don't dig it as set opener. It feels like a "relief" song
after some dark jamming rather than the start of a set, but that's just
me.
Like how in Charleston in 2019 I was amazed to get The Connection, but
holy hell opening set 2 with it that night was just....yea let's get to
that Axilla already, ya dig?
Anywho, back to this show, I'm having a hard time "ranking" it so far.
As with 2009, 2010 and 2018, I have been keeping a txt document for listing each show and the highlights to look out for.
If a show has extra sauce and is particularly great or memorable throughout it gets "**"
If the show is "OMG THIS WAS THE GREATEST SHOW OF ALL TIME HOLY HELL" it gets "*********" etc
Set 1 was really good and I ended listing almost every track on the
highlights list. They were all standout renditions imo, BUT they still
seemed to lack something.
Maybe this show will be the first to get a "*" rating from me
Meaning great but not the first of the highlighted shows to head for. Or something like that.
But then again, it's Phish 2011 and I'm 100 percent over thinking all of
this. I am just going to shut up and enjoy this great music and report
back later
Peace and love hombres!

Set 2
Number Line - raged.
Rock and Roll>Type II jam - SICK
>Ghost - terrific, heard hints of Weekapaug jamming!

>Reba - GOSH DARN FLAWLESS! They seriously must've practiced, because this is album-ready right here
Currently inside this gorgeous Reba
