On to 6/18/11 Raleigh
An unexpected - and very rare - Cars Trucks Buses opens the show setting us into a party mode!
Its a great opener and Trey is tearing it up.
Peaches En Regalia - A+ for song choice and placement, it's rough around
the edges unfortunately. Things lock in by the end but Trey should've
refreshed this one some more
AC/DC Bag - A fine, standard, rocking version. Very nice, but nothing
extra memorable at all, so this one is banished from the highlight reel
with Peaches
Guyuute - HOLY FREAKING CRAP THIS WAS TERRIFIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nearly flawless, with EXTRA rocket sauce throughout. I couldn't take my
ears off this one. DANG SON!!!
Possum
YUCKY! BLECH!!!
GROSS! Trey is soloing off key to his heart's content. It sounds like me
when im in my bedroom jamming along, knowing I'm totally off key and
not giving a crap because I'm not good at guitar anyways, lol.
But seriously, this is GROSS
After that disgusting roadkill Possum, we get an awesome Halley's Comet.
Halley's always makes me perk up - this one is terrific and goes into
some awesome jamming. Just as we are rounding the corner into Serious
Jamville, Trey ripcords us into 46 Days.
And let me tell you, this ripcord SUCKS. It's not as "all of a sudden"
as some worse offenders we've seen, but gosh darn does it hurt. We are
RIGHT THERE and he goes "Nope! Chuck Testa!" and turns around...
At least I can forgive him for the OUTRAGEOUSLY HOT 46 Days to follow!
GOSH DANG THIS 46 DAYS IS HOTTER THAN THE SURFACE OF THE FRIGGIN
SUN!!!!!!
Divided Sky - not a particularly special version (most are excellent if
there aren't flubs...), but during the last third or so, Trey absolutely
loses his gosh darn mind and unleashes FURY upon us like Prince laying
waste to "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" at the Rock Hall (you know the
video I'm talkin bout!). Trey deviates from standard procedure and just
unloads fire upon fire unto us. Just heat to the extreme. Worth hearing.
This one barely makes my highlight list
-----------------------------------------------------
Set one had me up and down.
After that sick Divided Sky, a stunted Curtis Loew followed. Not one for the highlights reel....
Antelope ended the set in raging fashion but was nothing special besides your typical awesome Antelope
Set 2 however is a different story!!!!
Twist opens and gets things ROCKIN!!! If there was such a thing as a
Hard Rock Twist, this is it. Different than your typical groovy
versions. Totally awesome. And I'm glad it comes to a clean close rather
than starting to jam but be ripcorded
Rift>
Caspian>
Esther
An unlikely trio that is unexpectedly successful!
Rift is, shockingly for 3.0, performed pretty spot on with extra points going to Page The Rage. Seriously, he is on FIRE!!!!!
It melts into Caspian which has a nice little jam for about 2 minutes.
Then at the PERFECT moment they segue spectacularly into ESTHER!!!!!!!!!!
And what do ya know? ESTHER IS RAGIN' AND PERFECT!!
Seriously, the boys are ON tonight playing-wise. As with Charlotte, the
jams are few and far between, but everything is at such a high level
anyways that you don't care.
BUT THEN THEY PLAY THE OLD BUST OUT GAME AND WE GET BEEN CAUGHT STEALING! OH YEA BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Into a NUCLEAR Piper from there. Holy freaking Mt. St. Helens it will DESTROY YOU.
And into MYFE. Again. It Rages. Nuff said.
MyFe melts unexpectedly into KDF. Nice set placement!!!
Dude, this show is slaying.
