------------------------------------------------------------------------

Set 1 was overall pretty strong.

Bathtub Gin had a wonderful and lengthy outing that stayed in that "Type 1.5" zone of rocking out but not going into out space fully.
Back On the Train was exceptional as well. Had a very, very good jam that went from relaxed to face melting.

But then that insane Mike>Water>LIMB BY LIMB>Weekapaug just knocked it out of the park.

That Limb By Limb destroyed everything else and was absolutely one of the all-time best performances of the year so far.

OUTSTANDING Limb By Limb. Really, really a magical version.

Strong first set - nothing was poorly performed and everything was baseline excellent, but the above selections are the ones to grab :)

-----------------------------------------------------

Set 2

Down With Disease - Masterpiece. Plain and simple. 20 minutes of terrific jamming of every kind. Mandatory listening.

>Play By Blay - INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not the biggest fan of this particular song, but HOLY CRAP do they take this thing for the proverbial ride! We go into Psychedelic Distortion Space Eplorer Land. Trey and Page going bonkers. INCREDIBLE!!!

>Simple - Almost a perfect segue, it comes in perfectly and you will start headbanging from the start! Unexpected but EXACTLY what the doctor ordered after that terrifying Play By Play. Following that Disease, we get a SECOND 20 minute beast in the same set! NICE! 6 minutes in, we drop headfirst into chill-bliss-land with some very quiet playing. The come down was so smooth it was as if someone quickly dialed down a full-band volume knob! VERY cool!! 8 minutes in and some ambient synth makes its way in among the guitar and tinkling piano guiding us to space. 10.5 minutes in and things go minor key - wacky effects and a dark mood overcome the jam. Mechanical and cold, yet still funky. Slowly we rise from the muck and by 14 minutes we have returned to pounding piano and guitar shredding with Fishman boosting the tempo and things heading for some rocking hose peaking. To the sun we go! LET IT FRIGGIN RIP TREY!!! The whole band just goes and goes and goes, building the jam higher and higher and higher!!! Somehow, they keep it going and move out of the shredding back into funky effects-delay land again for some interesting soundscapes. ALL HAIL THE WHALE SIREN! Free. King. Awe. Some. The jam begins to morph once more, and knowing that Piper is up next, you can clearly hear them heading for it at this point. Unfortunately Fishman drops the ball for some reason and instead of continuing the beat once Trey introduces Piper, he just stops dead in his tracks and restarts...Who cares - this Simple was astonishingly great. THE X FACTOR IS FLOWING! GRAB IT NOW!!!

>Piper - Immediately they drop into the jam, starting with some speedy, jazzy, frantic kind of playing. Fish is driving for sure, but Trey is also laying way back while Page lets it rip on the piano. This is pretty much the theme of the jam. Pretty typical 3.0 Piper that is a bit too short, but what is here is excellent.

>Miss You
- Oh yea, that's the stuff. Perfectly placed. After the insanity of that 4-way destruction derby hour of insanity, I'd call this cooldown welcome and warranted. :) Absolutely terrific soloing from Trey. He hits all the right notes at the perfect times, let's put it like that!! Absolutely SOARING playing from Trey. Jerry would be proud! HOLY CRAP GET IT TREY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Llama -
Fast Llama, Trey takes a back seat to Leo who continues to KILL tonight. GET IT PAGE! Trey comes back out though with some very nasty distortion effects and proceeds to tear the roof off. Wonderful. :) Lots of WACKY effects bring new meaning to the word "strangest guitar solo ever". I mean that in the best way. If you want some Trey Effect Abuse, grab this!!!! :)

Meatstick - Is Meatstick. Nothing special, just good fun. :)

Rise/Come Together - A very nice and short album-ready rendition. Maybe the shortest yet at only 4 minutes in length!!!

Slave to the Traffic Light -
:bigeek::bigeek::bigeek::bigeek::bigeek::bigeek::bigeek::bigeek::bigeek::bigeek::bigeek::bigeek::bigeek::bigeek::bigeek::bigeek::bigeek::bigeek::bigeek::bigeek::bigeek::bigeek::bigeek::bigeek::bigeek::bigeek::bigeek::bigeek::bigeek::bigeek::bigeek::bigeek::bigeek::bigeek::bigeek::bigeek::bigeek::bigeek:

Loving Cup - Is Loving Cup. Is great. :)

This set was FANTASTIC. GET THAT DISEASE>PBP>SIMPLE!!!!

Overall, set 2 was close to perfection. Set 1 was strong but had CLEAR highlights. I'd rate this show probably a 4.2 or 4.3 without hesitation. Wonderful gig!!!
