Onwards to night two of Nashville 2023.
10/7/23
Aka the 2001 show
Set 1 -
2001 - Must hear!!! Incredible opening, its about 12 minutes long and jammed pretty good. Massive, x factor rock and roll hose peak conclusion. Wow!!!
>Gumbo - Hell yea!!! Absolutely STELLAR version in slot two!!! Everyone is locked in and
this thing just explodes from all angles. Trey is going banana sandwich
all over and its a giant, goopy, funky mess of a good time! 10,000 percent must hear!! Where did they pull this from?!?!?
Beauty of My Dreams - Rusty and rare, but enjoyable still
Mull>2001>Mull - Spectacular!!! Must hear!!! Mull
is yet another winner (not a bad version all year). The jam gets going
good then Trey steers them into a full blown 2001 reprise for like 2
minutes before falling back into the funky Mull jam. This is why we
Phish, yo Sick. The whole thing was sloppy as hell - ragged but right
Dirt - Rare Dirt to cool us off. A little too "jagged" tonight but otherwise good as ever.
Stash - 15 minute Stash. Trey is not having a good night,
forgetting parts in the intro, but thankfully his tight playing makes up
for it. The jam is basically an improvement of the 2001 jam that began
the show. Incredible x factor hose explosion. Must hear.
Ether Edge - Gets better every time they play it!
About to Run - Is ATR. Love the song but im getting bored with it lately. Take it deep or something....
Split Open and Melt - Enter the wormhole. 19
minutes of indescribable Type 2 lunacy to close the set. This one felt
like it did the most with its run time than some other recent Melts.
Best part is when the craziness dies and it concludes in a Caspian esque
rock and roll finale
Set 2
Life Saving Gun - Kick. Ass.
Sand - Short, but felt way more potent than youd think. Spectacular version. Must hear.
Everything's Right - Good stuff, but nothing special.
>Cities - A FRIGGIN 16 MINUTE CITIES!!! HELL YES!!! X FACTOR MAGIC!!! LETS GO!!!!! MUST HEAR!!!! Dark
and grimy and gritty and funky...ROBO CITIES!!!! DIVIDED SKY SUSTAIN OF
THE GODS!!! Then it morphs into the expected bliss hose and everything
is right with the world....
Wow....
>Llama - Pure ridiculousness. And thst segue out of Cities was beyond magic.
I Always Wanted It This Way - 12 minutes of rock and roll bombast. Must hear. NUCLEAR BOMB.
Bug, Lonely Trip and Hood to close.
All in all, yea, night 1 was a piece of garbage compared to the
mighty monstrosity that is night 2!!! This was a CLASSIC show for any
era. 5/5 from me....
