Set 1
Soul Planet - Right out of the gate with the fire! Pretty neat
Type 1.5 kinda jam on this one. They stretch it out and make use of the
10 minute run time. Awesome, awesome, AWESOME way to open the show! I
don't care if you don't like the song, but come on, check this out - the
kicked ass.
>Moma Dance - Extra slinky tonight, they really dig into the deep grooving. Definitely "adult film" music tonight It's a slightly slower tempo than usual, but that just gives them to chance to really sink into it. Really really good Moma!
Kill Devil Falls - Really strong version with some chill vibes
going on in the jam. Awesome. Almost goes Type II, I guess. Recalls
those jammed out 2009 versions! Eventually the jam comes back around to
the song and the guys return to flawless Type I excellence. Great
transition!!!
Your Pet Cat - the first sleeper of the night. Not the strongest one
I've heard and pretty much just there to kill 4 minutes. Not to be
harsh, but there is literally nothing going on in this one. Odd, lol.
SKIP!!!
Back On the Train - See Soul Planet and KDF: just a wonderful
version with some really great peaks. Trey is flying high on this one
and this is NOT one to be missed!!!
Everything is Hollow - Absolutely love this song. This was the KV song I
most wanted to hear besides Turtle but unfortunately I got neither in
Charleston!
I just love that simple main guitar figure. Lots of Page whammy pedal
going on. Clavinet? Fishman is going nuts on the kit. This sounds
practiced - they nail the whole thing. Nothing special about it, but
great to get in this show
About to Run - Sick....This one always seems to deliver. I love
the dynamics of it. They take it easy in the verse and then Trey just
jumps out and grabs you by the throat with some nasty guitar wailing.
Was stoked to get this one in Charleston!!
Divided Sky - Done justice tonight! Trey mostly avoided his
"playing too quietly" thing, and the composed sections were pretty
flawless to these ears. Actually, one of the cleanest performances of
the "reverse" section I can recall offhand! This one is wonderfully
chill, ala the studio recording. Very, very delicate sounding tonight.
Great peak as always. A pretty darn excellent Divided Sky if I do say so
myself!!!
I Didn't Know - VACUUM SOLO!
Walls of the Cave - I love WOTC in theory, but I find myself becoming
bored with it. Every single version sounds identical. Now, that does not
mean it is not awesome, but when they all sound exactly the same...This
was another well-played and raging hot set closer, but c'mon guys, when
you gonna take it for a trip to outer space?!

Set 2
Stealing Time From the Faulty Plan - Love this song buy why oh why do
they keep opening sets with it. I abhor it as a set opener. I NEVER
works, imho. That being said, this one is pretty good once it gets going
and has some nicely fluid Trey throughout. Borderline highlights list
worthy!
>Birds of a Feather - AND INTO THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE SHOW WE
GO!!! Been waiting to get to this! I remember when this version
happenned and the hype around it. Finally get to hear it tonight! This
was freaking awesome. Talk about a great jam!!!! 23 minutes long, it
goes through probably 10 different 2 or 3 minute sections. Everyone
blending as one, it really is something to hear how 4 guys can just pour
the magic out of thin air like this. ABSOLUTELY MANDATORY LISTENING. The hype is deserved!!!
>Crazy Sometimes - I feel like this is a rarity, but its been
played about 10 times since 2017 so it really isn't in the grand scheme
of things. I love this song, but then again I love most Mike tunes! Just
fun and funky. Like a cousin of Sugar Shack (which I love) or Yarmouth
Road. Love the groovy beats, dawg. Also, this had to be planned because
talk about a song I'm sure most people did not expect out of BOAF
This version is particularly strong and sees the guys picking up where
BOAF left off, going into ultra-heavy funk explosion land. FREA-KING-AWE-SOME! HOLY CRAP DO NOT SKIP THIS!!!!
Miss You -
Great set placement on this one. I really like this song and haven't
been burnt out on it. Wonderfully relaxed and great to hear. Like a cool
drink of water after sweating it out on the dance floor . Great version! Blistering peak from Trey.
Everything's Right - Short but sick.
Great little microjam (or whatever the kids are calling it these
days!). Sounds like they are gonna go into orbit, but surprisingly it
ends after only a few minutes and we go into CDT. Still, what's here is
fantastic.
>Chalkdust Torture - Very odd and
unique version!!! Goes chill Type II right off the bat before
straddling the fencepost for a while. They can't seem to decide whether
to blast off or ride it out. Pretty darn cool!!! For 11 minutes, they
sure make it seem longer! They do eventually go into outer space for a
while and its friggin cool. For 11 minutes, they packed 20 minutes of
stuff into it!
>Slave to the Traffic Light -
Split Open and Melt - HOLY FREAKING CRAP WELCOME TO OUTER SPACE!!!!!
A Life Beyond a Dream - Love this song as well. Debut Phish performance this night to end an absolutely SPECTACULAR show.
All in all, this 2nd set was CLASSIC. HANDS DOWN!!! The whole show was
fire, and I'd easily rate it a strong 4.5 out of 5. They delivered on
every front and if you play one show from 2019, MAKE IT THIS
ONE!!!!!!!!!!
Holy freaking crap...
