Starting 6/25/10 right now with the first Alumni Blues since 1999 and the first Letter to Jimmy Page since 1994!
That's a promising start, no?
Just looking at the setlist I'm excited - if it's anywhere as awesome as the previous show It'll be a good night
Set one is interesting. It's a lot more inconsistent than set 1 of 6 24.
Up through SOAM so far. Melt is doing some good stuff but it's a bit too
meandering in a "not sure what to do" kind of way, like everyone is
waiting for Trey to get it together. Eventually the boys have a mini
meltdown and we achieve lift for a minute or 2. I'll accept it!
That being said, Alumni>LTJP>Alumni was an excellent opener and the unexpected following BBFCFM was great as always.
Runaway Jim was ok - Jim is always good, this one just wasn't incredible.
Army of One isn't a favorite, but I enjoy hearing the Undermind songs
because at least they aren't ignoring the album completely (there's some
great stuff on there!)
Free Man in Paris was an excellent cover I'd welcome hearing again.
Summer of '89 was MILES better than the debut. I picked this version for
my compilation series and I really, really like this one!!
So now it's on to another rarity - The Sloth....
Ok set 2 began with a RIPPING 18 minutes CDT into....Prince Caspian *ok*
Out of Caspian we got a great segue into a subpar Heavy Things
Then Alaska came and FREAKING MELTED MY FACE OFF HOLY COW!!!!
This show is weird!!!
Ok,
so as I said this show is weird - Alaska comes along and unexpectedly
destroys worlds, then we segue into maybe the best 3.0 2001 yet (loaded
with Michael Jackson teases - one year on from his death date) and then
another segue into Light.
Light is only 10 minutes but it goes full type 2 percussion/bass solo
jamming and feels more like a 20 minute workout just condensed a bit.
Absolutely worth hearing.
And out of this mini-epic Light into...Possum?!
LMAO only Phish could get away with this
